My Journey for Photos | Springfield Missouri Boudoir Photographer
My journey for photos has not always been an easy one. And that is honestly the reason why I want to be a full-time boudoir photographer. I have had the experiences where I hated my body in photos. Where I was just "blah" about my photos and where I went "Hot damn! That's me!" Every photograph has a spot in this journey. Every experience makes the experience better for you and for me. Each time makes me remember why I want to get you in front of my camera. I want you to feel the experience. I want you to walk away from the images going "Hot damn! That's me!!!"…

The Beginnings of a Dream | Springfield Boudoir Photography
There is always a beginning. A beginning where hope is high and dreams are huge. But once you are finished dreaming of all of the things, you either buckle down and keep pushing or you give up. One is easier than the other. One takes a lot more than dreams and hopes. It takes blood, sweat and tears -a lot of all of those. And this story is very much like that. I have done photography for years. I have wanted to be a full-time photographer for almost as long as I can remember, besides an author (more about that later). Each year, I have pushed myself. I have pushed…

Stripping Down Yourself | Springfield Missouri Boudoir Photographer
One of the hardest parts about being a photographer is stripping down yourself for everyone to know more about you. You may ask why? Well if you aren't someone who shares everything with everyone, it is hard to be open. Yes, I could be a photographer that doesn't talk about themselves. But for boudoir, that would be the worst. I mean, stripping down to your lingerie and in some cases down to being nude in front of another person. If you didn't feel comfortable with the photographer, how would you be able to get amazing images that you love?! I want you as a client, a friend, etc. to be…

You don’t have to be |Springfield Missouri Boudoir Photographer
***Closed*** Keeping checking the blog and social media for more opportunities. When I first thought about throwing a Boudie Call, I knew the first one had to be a Short Hair Call, Women forget that they don't have to be ___________ to do a boudoir shoot. There are no requirements if you want to do one. You could wake up one morning and go 'Damn! I look hot. I need to do a boudoir shoot!' Ms. T was one of my amazing ladies who sent in a application (no worries it isn't hard.) From the moment, I read what she wrote... I was like "Wow! She gets it!" "Hey girl! …

Finding Creativeness in the Pause |Springfield Missouri Boudoir Photographer
On the middle of the third week, I found a life line that I didn't realize I was looking for. My friend Teri Hofford over at Teri Hofford Photography (who is amazing! Go check her out here.) Teri announced that she was doing WEBCAM sessions. I was like Webcam Sessions? What? After seeing several sets, I purchased the guide and WOW! What an amazing creative rush! Of course, I called on a few people and answered some calls for a photographer for Webcam shoots in my educational groups. My first two were two amazing ladies. One was a photographer in Indiana. The next a lady from the Joplin, Mo area. …

The Pause aka Coronavirus 2020
I read somewhere in the middle of March when the United States kind of went upside down that this time at home was being called the Pause. Mom and Dads were able to be at home with their kids. Family Dinners were happening again. Kids were home from school. And so much more. At first with the stay-at-home order, I didn't completely understand it all. My hour break was shortened to 30 mins, but other than that I was still working at my full-time job. But then after about a week, I was furloughed. (Wow, what another story for another day). The first week was nice like a vacation. The…

Happiness & Sadness: A Tribute to A Friend | Springfield Boudoir Photographer
Trigger warning: Death No day is promised. Anything can happen and does. When it happens, the best thing we can do is remember the happy moments. Over the weekend, one of my new boudoir photographer friends, Jenna died from complications from a car accident. We had connected at the boudoir worksop I attended back in November. She was an amazing boudoir photographer from Minnesota and she was eager to learn more. We spent our last night in Dallas -staying up late and talking about pricing, hopes and dreams for the future, and so much more. The final day of the workshop,…

I’m tired of “Not Enough” | Springfield Boudoir Photographer
I’m tired of “not enough.” For the last who knows how many days (mainly cause I got off track and behind and well… yeah…) I have been doing a Body Positive post a day in my Facebook group Paula’s Boudoir Babes. It came out of seeing all of the posts around January 1. I was tired. I was tired seeing every post on social media about “I’m fat.” “I’m going on a diet to be prettier” “Jan 1, time to lose the weight” “Time to gain the muscle” It was seriously never ending and wrote in all the different ways. And from friends to businesses. UGH! Wait a second, no,…
