That’s So 70s |Springfield Missouri Boudoir Photographer
One of the places that I tend to grab a lot of ideas from Pinterest. Sometimes its just an image that gets stuck in my head that I can't get out or a quote that screams at me and refuses to go away. The simple fact is i saw an idea in my head and I really couldn't get it out of my head. Looking through Pinterest I tried to find more of what I was obsessing about but no luck. So I gathered a few images of records, velvet and amazingness... and grabbed one of my friends. Since I didn't really have an image to give her I told…

Editorial: Inspiration Wedding | Springfield Missouri Boudoir Photography
A few years ago, I second shot at a wedding. (2020 really messed up my timeline of life) While I was at the wedding, I saw this amazing lady as a best man in a suit. It was my first wedding where the woman as the best man was not wearing a dress. It made my feminist heart happy and then my photographer brain jump to shoot the concept! Here is best examples I can find now for this idea. All example images from Pinterest as I'm writing this blog. I haven't been able to get the idea out of my head, so I put out a model call for…

Inspire Me | Springfield Boudoir Photographer
Inspire me. Push me. I demand those two things of most of my shoots when they are for creative purposes. Sometimes I have a specific vision that I want to create. Other times, I want to be inspired by the outfits and the personality of the client/model in question. On this particular day, I was feeling blocked. I didn't know what I wanted to shoot and didn't know how to push through. I was doubting myself, which on occasion happens, but I usually push through with a creative session or a social media break. So when Alexa showed up at my studio with her suitcase of clothing to chose from,…

She said Wow |Springfield Missouri Boudoir Photographer
The new studio was finished, well mostly and I knew I had to find someone to help test it out. Basement studio when I'm used to natural light. A whole new set up including a chair and and a boho area. I was nervous about what I created. I was nervous if I had done enough to the studio to make it worth it. I was worried about the set up and the new lighting. I was just plainly nervous. Ms D totally stepped up to the plate for this experience! And I am so grateful for her!!! The day of the shoot, I was so nervous but within a…

Bedroom Dreams|Springfield Missouri Boudoir Photographer
Webcam sessions have been so much fun. Not only I am I meeting far away friends again but I am able to connect with other boudoir photographers just like Jackie. It was like talking with an old friend who I hadn't seen in forever! When it was time for the shoot, she took me around her area to see where I could photograph her at. She had this gorgeous bed setup in her house! Between the turquoise sofa and the moon photograph or painting, it was like I had picked out my dream shooting area. The colors were great! And it was my first FaceTime shoot! I own an android…

Studio Dreams |Springfield Missouri Boudoir Photographer
As most of you know, we moved into the town of Springfield, Missouri back at the beginning of March. The best part of the new house besides the location for clients was the basement. Why? Because the main parts of the basement are going to become the new studio location for Boudoir by Paula. Ever since finding out where we were moving to, I have been trying to figure out a vision of what I want my studio to look like. It is hard. When all I see right now, is the beige carpet, the wainscoting and nothingness. It is better with the bed put together. But to envision the…

Finding time during the Stay-at-Home Order| Springfield Missouri Boudoir Photographer
One of my favorite parts about Webcam shoots has been the ability to meet new people and see old friends. It really has been just about the connection for me. Yes, I like the being at home. I like the relaxing, but I miss the connections that photography brings me. It's Spring. It's the time that I want to be out and photographing new people and see all the pretty trees and enjoy my favorite weather! Miss D was nice of enough to let me do a Webcam shoot with her. We hadn't been able to connect in person for a boudoir shoot so I contacted her as soon as…

Connecting Through Trial and Error| Springfield Mo Boudoir Photographer
The very first webcam shoot I did was with Miss Layne. I was nervous and I wasn't exactly sure how everything would go, but I knew I was ready to try. The first issue we had was her phone would not let her talk to me. No matter how many times we came in and out of the Zoom app, she couldn't get unmuted. So we actually connected via her laptop as well as her phone. We were able to talk at each other on the laptop while the phone was held by her family member where I was able to capture the images. As you can tell from the…

The Pause aka Coronavirus 2020
I read somewhere in the middle of March when the United States kind of went upside down that this time at home was being called the Pause. Mom and Dads were able to be at home with their kids. Family Dinners were happening again. Kids were home from school. And so much more. At first with the stay-at-home order, I didn't completely understand it all. My hour break was shortened to 30 mins, but other than that I was still working at my full-time job. But then after about a week, I was furloughed. (Wow, what another story for another day). The first week was nice like a vacation. The…
